Pastor David

Please join us on Sunday June 7th when our guest speaker will be Rev. David VanBebber of Crossroads Baptist Church, Riley Kansas. Pastor David has been married to Cheryl for 27 years. They have raised five children. They have two grand children. David has been pastor of Crossroads Baptist Church in Riley Kansas for 24 years. He is a 1980 graduate of Southwest Baptist University with a BA in history. He completed a Masters of Divinity in 1983 from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

This Week at WABC

Congratulations to WABC's Women of The Year, Deaconess Sarah Russell.

WABC will travel to Antioch Missionary Baptist Church on Tuesday May 25th at 7 PM for the Old Dominion Missionary Association program. Pastor Marc will be the guest speaker.


Join us Wednesday Nights at 6 PM for Prayer, Praise, Food, Fellowship and a Relevant word.


Join us on Sunday mornings at 10 AM for Sunday Morning Bible Study. Free coffee, donuts and hot tea are available before and after class.


The WABC Youth Choir will be traveling to Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church on May 29th at 7 PM for their Youth Extravaganza. All youth are invited to join us. Please see Jason Hailes or Erica Morrison for more details.


The Music Dept. will celebrate its anniversary on May 31st at 3 PM.


VBS begins on June 22nd and runs through the 26th. Please see our VBS Director, Calonia Fults for more info or if you are interested in volunteering.


The Clara Ellis Scholarship Banquet will be held on Saturday June 27th at 3 PM at Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church, Norfolk VA. This Year's Theme: "WABC Scholars know E=MC2: Excellence-"s Making Christ the Center of Your Life". Tickets for the banquet as well as nominee applications are now available. The cost of the tickets are $25.00 for adults and $10.00 for children. Deadline for this event is June 14th. You can leave a message at the church office or via email. WABC members and friends may speak with Thomasine Flores directly for more information.


Youth Day is June 14th at 11:30 AM. Please join us on this casual dress down day for a time of fellowship and celebration of our Youth Ministry. Our guest speaker will be Rev. Melvin Cotton, Associate minister at Grove Baptist Church Portsmouth VA. There will be a barbecue immediately following the morning service.

Women's Weekend Experience!


It's Time Ladies! Come be Refreshed in Jesus! This week begins our WABC Women's Ministry Weekend Experience.

Wednesday May 20th at 7 PM (following our weekly prayer, praise and food) we will hold a Women's Bible Study intitled "Finding Rest In Jesus". Our facilitator will be our very own Sister Jenette Sapp.

Friday May 22nd we will host a special "Girl's Night Out". If you know a young lady between the age of 12 and 26 (mother's are also invited to attend with their daughter's) please let them know about our special girls night out event entitled " You're Designed To Shine" in the church dining hall. This event includes light refreshments and a night of fellowship and fun. There is no cost for this event. Mother's are invited to come share in this special time.

WABC Women get ready to be refreshed in Jesus at our Women's Ministry "HeartSpa" Workshop which will be held on Saturday May 23rd. Those of you who signed up for this event are asked to arrive promptly that morning at 8:30 AM so that you may sign in and receive your workshop bags. Please bring your bibles, a washcloth and a bath towel with you. We will provide everything else that you will need.

We wrap up our weekend with our Annual Women's Day Celebration on May 24th at 11:30 AM. Our speaker will be Rev. Dr. Pamela Chandler Lee of Bethlehem Baptist Church, in Chase City VA. Our women's Day Theme is " Healing Heart's: Finding Rest In Jesus". Our women's day colors are purple and sage green. See you there!

The Trustees will meet tonight at 7 PM.

Deacon and Deaconess meet this Tuesday (not Thursday as previously stated) at 7PM.

Registration has begun for VBS 09 at WABC. You can register on-line or immediately following Sunday Morning Worship Service in our church fellowship hall. If you are interested in volunteering for VBS please see our VBS Director, Calonia Fults for more info.

WABC will travel to Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church on next Sunday, May 17th at 3:30 PM for their Congregational Life Ministry Anniversary.

The men and women will have a separate Bible Study on Wednesday May 20th. This is all part of our Women's Weekend Experience. The break out session will begin immediately following our time of worship and dinner. Ladies get ready to be "Refreshed in Jesus". Our bible study facilitator will be our very own Deaconess Jenette Sapp.

All WABC choir members and church leadership are asked to be in attendance tonight at 7 PM for the wake being held at Metropolitan Funeral Home in Berkley for the father of Wanda McFadden.

A special time was had by all who attended the interactive play "Judgement House" at Bethel Baptist Church, Chesapeake.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Annual Family and Friends Day Service this past Sunday. A special thank you goes out to Dr. Isaac McDonald and the congregation of Providence United Church of Christ.

Thank you to all of the men who showed up for the Men's Ministry breakfast on this past Saturday at Golden Corral, Kempsville.
