Celebrate Christmas 2013 Events

There will be a Christmas Breakfast hosted by Erica Morrison on December 15th at 8 AM. The cost of this event is $6.00 per person. Proceeds support our Building Fund. 

A "Ugly Sweater" Potluck will take place on Sunday December 15th following our morning service. This is a Family event. Everyone is invited. You are asked to bring a dish to share and there will be a Christmas Ornament Exchange during the game portion of the event. Come be a part of this fun event and get a chance to be crowned the Best Ugly Christmas sweater winner!

Our Christmas Play will take place Wednesday December 18th at 6 PM.

The youth of WABC will give a special presentation on Sunday December 22nd. 

New Years Eve Service will take place on December 31st at 10:30 PM. 

This Week at WABC

Thank you to everyone who came out to serve our seniors during the Senior Appreciation Day lunch at Golden Corral.

Our Joint Thanksgiving Eve service will take place on Wednesday November 27th at Mount Lebanon BC, Norfolk. There will not be a evening bible study this week do to the Holiday service.

We would like to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving Holiday.

75th Church Anniversary

Pastor Marc and Lady Cyndi Celebrate 5 years at WABC

We are excited to announce the 5th Anniversary of Pastor Marc and Lady Cyndi at WABC. A luncheon will be held in their honor on November 9th at 2 pm at New Hope UCC (145 E Liberty Street), Norfolk VA in the churches fellowship hall. The cost of tickets are $30.00 each and can be purchased by sending a check c/o Woodland Ave Baptist Church, 2736 Woodland Ave, Norfolk VA 23504 no later then October 29th. The speaker of the hour will be Dr. Ray McKenzie, Professor at Virginia Union School of Theology and Senior Pastor of Gravel Hill BC, in Varina VA.

We wrap up the official celebration on Sunday November 10th with two service. Rev. Clyde Lacewell, Associate Minister of Fourth Baptist Church Portsmouth VA will speak during our 11:30 AM service and Pastor Charles Beamon and the Fourth Baptist Church family will join us that afternoon at 2:30 pm.

We look forward to seeing many of you there.

Fall Revival and Homecoming 2013!!

Join us for our Annual Fall Revival on September 16th through September 19th. Our guest speaker on Monday night will be Rev. Akeem Walker, Pastor of First Baptist Missionary Church of Powersville, in Powersville NC. Our devotional leaders will be New Light BC, Norfolk VA along with their choir and ushers. Tuesday nights speaker is Pastor-Elect Melvin Cotton of New Genesis BC in Virginia Beach VA along with his church choir and ushers. Wednesday nights speaker is Rev. Juan Turnes, associate minister at Saint Thomas AME Church in Norfolk VA. The Men of WABC will be singing that night and the WABC family will be in charge of the service. We end our week with our very own Pastor Marc speaking on Thursday. Our guest church will be Messiah Presbyterian Church and choir, Norfolk VA. Our theme this year is "Time For A Change"!!! The doors open at 7 PM.

Get ready for an exciting week that will end with our annual Homecoming Service on September 22nd. Pastor Samuel Logan and New Hope BC Church, Chesapeake VA will be our guest.

July was a busy month at WABC! Be sure to check out our Facebook page to see photos from our Men's Day service, the Taming The Tongue Workshop and the Women's Ministry Cafe Chocolat workshop.

Pastor Marc and Lady J are on vacation 2nd and 3rd Sunday. Rev. Kevin Stanley, Associate minister at Enoch BC spoke today during our Youth Sunday service. Pastor Rob will speak next Sunday during our 11:30 service.

We are still collecting supplies for our annual backpack drive. If you would like to donate you can drop off supplies at the church on Sunday mornings. If you would like to make a monetary donation you can make a check out to Woodland Ave Baptist Church. Nicole Daye is our contact person.

Noon day Bible Study and Evening Bible Study will resume in September.

Please do not forget to contribute to our Foodbank Ministry. Donations from the ministry help our local Foodbank and the community. Please speak with Raymond or Marilyn Caffee for more info.

The Ushers and Hospitality Ministry will celebrate their anniversary on Sunday, August 25th. Our guest will be Rev. John Blackwell and The Way, The Truth and The Light Church.

September marks the start of our Fall Revival and Annual Church Homecoming. See our Facebook event page for more info.

Pastor Marc and Lady J will celebrate their 5th year at WABC on November 9th and 10th. The church will be holding a luncheon in their honor on Saturday November 9th at 2 pm at New Hope CCC Norfolk. The cost of this event is $30.00 per person. If you would like to attend you can send a check to Woodland Ave Baptist Church, 2736 Woodland Ave, Norfolk VA 23504.

We will wrap up the celebration on Sunday November 10th during our 11:30 am service and a special Anniversary service that afternoon at 2:30 pm. Rev. Clyde Lacewell, Associate Minister at Fourth Baptist Church Norfolk will speak in the morning. Pastor Charles Beamon and the Fourth Baptist Church family will come to us that afternoon.

What's Happening at WABC!

June was a great month at WABC. Thank you to everyone who participated in our Youth Sunday, VBS Camp and our annual Clara M Ellis Scholarship banquet.

We are still accepting donations for the Food Pantry. If you are interested in helping out please speak with Raymond or Marilyn Caffee.

Upcoming events in the month of July:

There will be an All Staff meeting on July 9th at 7 PM.

The "Taming The Tongue" workshop will take place on July 15th through July 18th.

Men's Day is set to take place on July 21st.

Wednesday night Bible Study will resume in September.

Our snack portion of the café will be closed until this fall. Donuts and coffee are still available during our Sunday morning service.

VBS Camp 2013

Upcoming Events in June

Thank you to everyone who supported the Women's Ministry Women's Day service last Sunday. Congratulations to our special honorees and special thanks to Rev. Catherine Harris for the a powerful message on "Order My Steps"!

These are the following Events coming up in the month of June at WABC:

WABC Family and Friends Church picnic will take place on June 1st at 11 AM. If you are planning to attend and or will be bringing family or guest with you please use the sign up sheet located on the back bulletin board so that the Hospitality ministry knows how many to plan for!

The Youth Ministry will hold a Youth Barbecue on June 15th at noon. The Youth will also hold their annual Youth Day service on June 23rd during the 11 AM service. The speaker is Rev. Walter Oliver.

VBS Camp 2013 kicks off June 24th and runs through June 28th. Sign ups will begin soon. If you are interested in volunteering please contact Calonia Fults. If you are a guest and would like to attend please leave a message on our Facebook page or call the church office.

The Clara M Ellis Scholarship banquet will take place at WABC on June 29th at 3 PM. Please see Thomasine Flores for info on tickets. Our speaker will be our very own Lexis Flores who is a graduating senior this year!

The Young Adult Ministry will begin ushering on 5th Sundays. Everyone is reminded to wear pink and black. This is also Baptism Sunday!!!

This Week at WABC

 

May 19th our Women's Ministry will celebrate its annual Women's Day Celebration in our 11:30 AM service. Rev. Catherine Harris, associate minister at Mount Bethel Baptist Church in Virginia Beach VA will be our speaker. Women are encouraged to wear their favorite hat and matching outfit in honor of the day! Our theme this year is "Women Delighting In God's Grace"!

 

The Clara Ellis Scholarship Ministry has applications available for those youth who are eligible for a scholastic award. Please contact Thomasine Flores for applications. All info should be submitted by June 9th.

The Noonday Wednesday night bible study will take place on May 15. You are also invited to join us at "The Baker's Crust" Restaurant (21st Street in Norfolk) at 11 AM on May 29th for a luncheon celebrating the completion of the study of the book of Romans. Noonday sessions will resume in September. We will start a study on the book of Genesis.

 

A free meal is served before the 7 PM Wednesday Nite Bible Study. We are studying the Book of Acts.

 

The music ministry will celebrate its anniversary on May 26th.

This Week at WABC

Just a reminder that there will be a Deaconette Ministry meeting tonight at 7 pm!

Join us for Bible Study Wednesdays at noon, or that evening at 7 PM. Our evening Bible Study begins with a free meal to all who who like to attend at 6:30 PM. Come join us for food, fellowship and a relevant word!

Pastor Marc and the members of WABC will travel to Gloucester VA on Sunday afternoon to help Union Zion Baptist Church celebrate its Family and Friends Day service. If you would like to ride please contact one of the deacons.

Sunday April 28th the Missions Ministry will celebrate its anniversary. Rev. Dr. Linda Clark and the members of Union United Church of Christ will be our guest.

We would like to thank everyone who contributed to our Easter Eggstravaganza and would like to send a special shout out to our Youth Ministry staff for all of their hard work that day.

Group photos from the Easter service will be available this coming Sunday.

Please be sure to check out our WABC Cafe on Sunday mornings. Free coffee and donuts are available before service begins. Chips and Soda's can be purchased at the Cafe window. Just ask for Judy.

Join Us Easter Sunday

We invite you to join us Easter Sunday at 11:30 AM for a time of fellowship, fun and a relevant word. WABC family make sure to invite your family and friends to join us that day. We offer free coffee and donuts before service. Our youth ministry will host its annual Easter Eggstravaganza during service in our Children's Church, and just like last year we are offering a free group photo to anyone who would like to take one. Who knows there may even be a free gift for the person who invites the most guest to attend service with them that day! Our services are family friendly and we invite you to come as you are. We are a Real Church, Serving the Real God, Reaching out to Real people, to effect Real change!

WABC will travel this coming Sunday to Union United Church of Christ for their Anniversary. Pastor Marc is the guest speaker.

The Youth Ministry is now accepting donations of candy and plastic eggs for our Easter Eggstravaganza! Please drop donations off to Calonia Fults or Thomasine Flores on Sunday. You can also drop donations off on Wednesday during noon day or the evening study.

Please join us for our Wednesday Bible Study. Either during our noon day lesson or in the evening at 7 PM. You are invited to join us for a free meal at 6:30 PM before the evening study begins.
