Family and Friends Day

Cyndi and I would like to invite you to join us this Sunday (May 3rd) at 3 PM, for our Annual Family and Friends Day. Our guest speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Isaac L. McDonald, Pastor of Providence United Church of Christ, Chesapeake VA. Dinner will be served immediately following the service (be sure to bring some casual clothing along). Weather permitting we will be eating outdoors.

This Week at WABC


Join us Wednesday Nights at 6 PM for Prayer, Praise, Food, Fellowship and a Relevant word.

Join us on Sunday mornings at 10 AM for Sunday Morning Bible Study. Free coffee, donuts and hot tea are available before and after class.

This is the last week of registration for our Women's Workshop which is a part of our Women's Ministry Women's Day Weekend Celebration. Please invite your family and friends to join us on May 23rd and 24th. Registration deadline for the workshop fee ends May 1st.

If you know a young lady between the age of 12 and 26 please let them know about our special "Girls Night Out" for them which will be held on May 22nd at 7 PM in the church fellowship hall. There is no cost for this event.

Registration has begun for VBS 09 at WABC. You can register on-line or immediately following Sunday Morning Worship Service in our church fellowship hall. If you are interested in volunteering for VBS please see our VBS Director, Calonia Fults for more info.

The Youth Ministry will be hosting a trip to see Judgement House on May 1st at 6:20 PM at Bethel Baptist Church, in Chesapeake VA. If you are interested in going please see Cyndi Jennings for more info. Due to intense scenes and loud noise, Judgement House is not recommended for children 10 and under. We have reserved space for 20 people so please let us know as soon as possible if you are interested in attending.

The next Men's Ministry breakfast will be held on Saturday, May 2nd at 8:30 AM (Golden Corral, Kempsville Road in Va Beach).

Family and Friends Day is Sunday May 3rd at 3 PM. Please invite your family and friends to join us. Dinner will be served immediately following service.

Thank you to everyone who supported the Outreach and Missions Anniversary this past Sunday. Photos are now up in the church gallery.

We welcome our newest member, Denise Ivey to the Woodland Ave Baptist Church family.

All Staff members are reminded that they should be reading "The Purpose Driven Church" book. There will be a All Staff Meeting next Tuesday, May 5th at 7 PM.

The Missions and Outreach Ministry will celebrate their anniversary this coming Sunday, April 26 at 3 PM. Our guest will be Dr. Linda Clark and the members of Union United Church of Christ, Norfolk Virginia. All WABC family are asked to be in attendance.

This Week at WABC


Please support our "Queen" Calonia Fults at the Ways and Means fundraiser which will be held tonight at 7 PM at Third Baptist Church, Portsmouth VA.

WABC travels to Monticello Baptist Church, Norfolk VA to support the Old Dominion Association on April 22nd at 7 PM. Pastor Marc will be the guest speaker. There will be no Wednesday Night Bible Service on this week.

Invite a friend to WABC. All guest are invited to join us on 4th Sunday's for a special "Meet and Greet", immediately following our Sunday Worship Service.

WABC welcomes Diane Robinson as the new coordinator of our First Impressions Ministry. Diane will be overseeing our Ushers and Hospitality Team. VBS is Coming!

VBS runs from June 22nd through June the 26th. Share it with family and friends, by inviting them to register on-line here. Don't forget we will also have adult classes that week. Easter Eggstravaganza

Registration for the Women's Ministry "Healing Hearts" Heart Spa Workshop has begun. If you are interested in participating you can register immediately following our Sunday service at the information table located in our fellowship hall. The cost of this event is $20.00 per person and includes your workshop bag, continental breakfast and lunch. You can also register by sending in a check for $20.00 via the mail to Woodland Ave Baptist Church, 2736 Woodland Ave, Norfolk Virginia 23504. Please include your full name, address, phone number and email address. Registration deadline is May 1st.

Donations of plastic eggs and candy are needed for our "Easter Eggstravaganza" which will be held on Easter Monday, April 13th at 12 Noon. Volunteers are needed to assist with this event. Please see June James, Calonia Fults, Thomasina Flores or Erica Morrison if you are available to help. Please invite your friends and family members.

This coming Sunday is Easter. Please remember to invite friends and family to join our 11:30 AM Worship Service on April 12th. Pastor Marc has a special gift for the person that brings in the most "non-member" family or friends.

The WABC Youth will be on the move again on April the 17th for the Youth Extravaganza being held at Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church, in Chesapeake VA at 7 PM. Please come out and support our youth that night.

WABC welcomes its newest member, Ellis Ivy to the WABC family.

Calonia Fults (our WABC Queen) will be participating in the Tidewater Women's Missionary program scheduled for April 20th.

Please remember to contribute to our Food Bank. Your help is greatly needed.

Heart Spa Workshop

Registration for our Heart Spa Workshop begins this Sunday. You can sign up at our information table immediately following the Sunday Morning Worship Service. The cost of the workshop is $20.00 per person and includes your workshop bag, continental breakfast and lunch. The deadline for registration is May 1st). Invite a friend and spend the day being refreshed through worship, fellowship and special spa treatments.

The Marriage and Singles Ministry will be going to see "The Play-The Story of A Man Called Jesus" on April 4th at 3 PM. If you are interested in getting additional tickets you can purchase them at The Family Life Center @ Atlantic Shores Baptist Church (1861 Kempsville Road, Va Beach Virginia 23464) between the hours of 12 Noon and 5 PM. For additional info please call the center directly at 961-4174. Doors open 45 minutes before the play begins (the play last approximately 2 hours). Reserved seating only.
