God's Blessings, WABC family and friends. Cyndi and I would like to wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
The New Year offers each of us an opportunity to begin anew in Jesus Christ. We encourage you to invite your family and friends to join us on New Years Eve at 10 PM for Praise , Worship, Food and Fellowship as we ring in 2009.

To our WABC family we would especially like to thank you for welcoming us into your life. We have been truly blessed by the love and effection you have shown us and our family this past year.

During this season of giving you have shown yourself to be a church that reaches above and beyond the four walls of our small church. There is much work to be done in the coming year, but I believe WABC is up for the task. Thanks WABC for all that you do for the Lord.

We invite those of you who are new to WABC to join us each Sunday morning for our Sunday Worship experience at 11:30 AM. We are centrally located in the city of Norfolk near Norfolk State University and the Broad Creek Renaissance Project (2736 Woodland Ave Norfolk, Virginia 23504). This Week at WABC

Congratulations

Congratulations goes out to grandparents June James and Edwin Ellis. Their daughter Brittaney gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on Friday (Cecelia came into this world at 8:29 PM weighing in at 5lbs 13 oz). Please keep Brittaney's husband Rufo, who is away in Iraq in your prayers. Welcome to the newest member of WABC!

Joint Christmas Day Service

Our Joint Christmas Day Service will be held on December 25th at 10 AM at Bethel Baptist Church in Norfolk, Virginia. Rev. Bowzer of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church, Norfolk will bring the word.

WABC Youth On The Move

Thanks goes out to Erica Morrison, June James, Thomasina Flores, and Marilyn Caffee for their support of the youth of WABC who went Christmas caroling today at the Norfolk Healthcare Center. Special thanks goes out to Pastor Marc and his wife Cyndi for attending the event along with the youth and youth leaders. The youth ministry would also like to thank everyone who came out or contributed gifts for the gift wrapping party for our adopted family.

Dress Rehearsal for "The True Meaning of Christmas" will be held on December 20th at 3 PM. All cast and crew are asked to be in place for this final rehearsal before the production on Sunday December 21st at 2 PM.

The True Meaning of Christmas

Come and join us as the story continues of a frustrated mom who has been given the task of writing a Christmas play for her church. Will she succeed this time (she didn't at Thanksgiving! ).

Youth of WABC on the Move

Give A Gift of Love

In the spirit of the season, WABC has Adopted-A-Family with three children for Christmas.

The three girls are living with their grandmother who has taken over the responsibility of their upbringing after the death of their mom who died last week after a lengthy illness. The 11 year old wears size 16 clothes and shoe size 4 ½ wide width. The 3 year old wears size 4-5 T clothes and shoe size 9. The 7 year old wears 7/8 chubby clothes and shoe size 2 ½.

PLEASE TURN IN ALL GIFTS/TOYS BY WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 17, 2008. This will allow ample time for gift wrapping.

Please know that it is not necessary to provide the grandmother with a gift, however it would be a nice gesture that is entirely up to you.

We thank you Woodland, for your continuous support in doing what the Lord would have us to do; especially during this Holiday Season.

Christmas Baskets

Christmas Basket applications are now available for those in need. Please see June James Ellis for more information. The deadline for turning in a request is December 14th.

WABC will be adopting a family in need this year. We are looking to provide the family that has been selected with toys and clothing for the holiday season. Please join us in this very worthy cause. More info about the family will be provided at our Sunday worship service.

If you enjoyed the Thanksgiving production "How Can I Say Thanks" that was held last Sunday, then you will be pleased to know that our Christmas Production is now under way. This Week at WABC

WABC Food Drive

Please consider making a donation (non-perishable items) to our food pantry drive. Help to feed someone in need. Many of our local food pantries are in need of help. Our goal is to help as many people as possible. Donations can be dropped off at the church during Wednesday night, and Sunday morning services. For further info please see Deac. "How Can I Say Thanks"

Dress rehearsal for the Thanksgiving play "How Can I Say Thanks" will be held on Saturday, November 22nd at 2 PM. All cast, and crew are asked to attend.

The play will take place on Sunday, November 23rd immediately following our morning service.

How Can I Say Thanks ?

Practice for the Thanksgiving presentation entitled " How Can I Say Thanks ?" will take place on Saturdays, November 8th, 15th and the 22nd at 2 PM. Please see Jenette Sapp if you would like to participate. We need your support!

Ministers Making a Joyful Noise Through Singing

Join us Sunday November 9th at Macedonia AME Church, where Pastor Marc will be singing along with several other ministers for the Annual "Minister's Making a Joyful Noise Through Singing" concert. Youth On the Move

WABC Youth have been busy this month. Pastor Marc is wrapping up his last month at Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church as there Youth Director. Last night the youth of WABC along with their Youth leaders went over to show support during GMZBC Youth Revival.

Pastor Marc will be speaking at Messiah Presbyterian Church in Norfolk VA on Friday October 17th at 7 PM. The church congregation, choir and ushers are asked to be in attendance.

WABC celebrates its 7oth Anniversary this month. Join us today at 1:30 PM for service. Our guest will be Goodwill Baptist Church, Norfolk VA.

Week of Prayer

Tuesday October 7th during a "Week of Prayer" WABC will be the host for the Tidewater Women's Missionary Conference. Pastor Marc will be the speaker. The service begins at 7 PM.

Van Ministry Fundraiser

The van ministry at WABC is in need of a new van. If you missed the chance to "Smash a Car" last weekend join us on October 4th at 11 AM for our Van Drive. There will be games, food, fun and fellowship for all. We have even added a car wash ($10.00 per car).

Revival Postponed

Due to the weather the last night of revival has been postponed until tomorrow night at 7:30 PM.

Upcoming Events

Revival begins this week on September 23rd and runs through the 25th. Our theme this year is "Repentance-Not Just Talk". Pastor Marc will deliver the message each night starting at 7:30 PM.

We will NOT have our weekly prayer, dinner and bible study on Wednesday due to revival.

Pastor Elect

WABC welcomes our new pastor and his wife, Rev. Marcus and Cynthia Jennings. Rev. Jennings became our 5th Pastor on September 17, 2008. May God's blessings be bestowed upon him as he begins his new role as leader of this church.

Lawn Party

Join us on Saturday September 28th for a "Back To School Lawn Party". Bring a friend for an afternoon of food and fun for kids of all ages. This event starts at 12 noon (on the corner of Woodland and Norchester ).
